Notary fees

In Texas, a notary public can charge $10 for the first signature and $1 for each additional signature.

Other fees include:

  • Oath or affirmation: $10 for administering an oath or affirmation with a certificate and seal
  • Certificate under seal: $10 for a certificate under seal not otherwise provided for
  • Copy of a record: $1 per page for a copy of a record or paper in the notary's office
  • Additional copies: $1.00 per page, 1 set of copies per signer included or as indicated per contract agreement.

The Secretary of State adjusts notary fees every five years based on inflation.

Other notary fee considerations:


Document type: Complex documents like real estate deeds may have higher fees than simple affidavits

Travel: Mobile notaries may charge additional travel time and mileage fees

Additional services: Some notaries offer document preparation or courier services, which may impact the overall cost

  • 5:01 p.m. – 9:59 p.m. = $75.00 plus $10.00 per notarization
  • 10:00 p.m. – 5:59 a.m. = $100.00 plus $10.00 per notarization

Travel Fee: Weekends & Holidays – Saturday

  • 5:01 p.m. – 9:59 p.m. = $100.00 plus $10.00 per notarization
  • 10:00 p.m. – 5:59 a.m. = $150.00 plus $10.00 per notarization
